As we approach Valentine’s Day, TCE is celebrating all kinds of love. Below are some of the love stories our readers have shared how love shows up in their lives.

I met my partner on Tinder. This was around the time when the app was in its early stages. I was looking for more than an evening of fun, having been through many relationships with varying success. Luckily, my partner to be was looking for the same. After texting for awhile, we met in person. The term “love at first sight” has been overstated in many situations but this was real. After a quick courtship, we moved in with each other and are still stupidly in love after over a decade. Love is out there, and I hope everyone finds it when the timing is right.

I’ve been lucky enough to be the person Ian chose to love. I see it in our shared efforts each day how we remind each other in beautifully nuanced ways of how much we mean to each other. We love the same, which is in abundance. I never have to worry about the state of our love which has changed the rhythm of how I show up in all different types of spaces and for myself as a person. I feel for the first time in my life, grounded and able to fully experience the joys of life. I’ll never stop finding new ways to express my love for him. I’ll cherish him forever, through this life and the next.

My boyfriend and I are an Instagram success story. I dm’d him because he posted a photo of a Criss Angel billboard in Las Vegas and I had to let him know that David Blaine was objectively the better magician. Luckily he agreed with me and when he got back from Vegas I asked him to hangout. We are so in love it’s sick. I would do anything for him. Never be afraid to dm, you never know what could happen.

I love my cat! I’ve never met a more compassionate, gentle, loving guy. He always knows just when to come in with a nose rub or a snuggle and he’s never missed a chance to sit at the table to join in during dinner time. Just don’t ask him to get in his carrier or everything I’ve just said goes out the window and you’ll have to beg for his mercy.

Every time I tell people I met my boyfriend of four years on Tinder, they are shocked.

Sometimes it really is right place, right time. We’ve worked together, been students at the same time, gone to weddings together, gone to funerals together. We’ve seen parts of the world together and discovered news spots in our own town. Now we live together and own two cats. If you would have told me that I would be doing this with someone I met on a dating app I downloaded because I was bored one day…I too would be shocked. I look forward to the many years to come <3

Loves in my life: my sons, who are great guys and make me proud every day, my wife, who accepts me and is funny, and my work, which is filled with good people.

My love story is a classic relationship with my wonderful boyfriend. We met on hinge which is rare considering how bleak those apps are but I got lucky and found my perfect boy. He’s sweet, comfortable and kind. He’s so passionate about his interests and I could just listen to him talk for forever. I’ve never felt such strong emotions for someone like this before and I’m so lucky to have found my person. Xoxo to my love <3

I met my girlfriend at a b-day party I accidentally crashed in February of 2022. We met again the following May and I fell in love instantly. Two and a half years and countless rom-com rewatches later she has improved my life in every way. She is in everything I do and everything I am. In 1000 years when alien archaeologists uncover my life’s work, it will all be a monument to her.

The subway had stopped for some evening trespass, and I climbed up through an unfamiliar station to a crowding bus platform. I looked to my right, and she turned her blue eyes and bob cut left. We shared a smile of mild chagrin, and just enough words to be real humans to each other. Her bus pulled in, she whirled back for a moment with “Good luck!”—my words as well, I think—and she was gone. “The best part of the affair is…” waiting on the replacement shuttle.
