Throughout history, scholars, philosophers and scientists have looked to nature’s patterns to enhance human experience and design.
Similarly, astrology uses natural geometries and blends them with mythology to find insights which guide our personal and collective evolution. At its best, astrology is a complex tool for self-development.
The North Node is a geometric point where the Moon’s orbit intersects the ecliptic—the path the Sun travels through our sky. The intersection is the meeting point of two celestial cycles that each carry a personal meaning.
The lunar cycle governs our emotions and subconscious, while the solar cycle represents our vitality and consciousness. It is the union of our inner and outer worlds. These nodes are the points in our sky where any eclipses will occur.
On Jan. 11, the North Node moved into the sign of Pisces where it will stay for the next two years. In Pisces, we are invited to embrace our intuition, compassion and creativity. It will encourage us to connect with our higher selves and the collective unconscious.
On Feb. 7, Neptune, the ruler of Pisces and the planet of dreams, conjuncts the North Node. In astrology, a conjunction occurs when two bodies are at the same zodiac degree in the same sign. This results in their energies blending.
Neptune’s placement in astrology often influences our collective ideals. It typically coincides with spiritual, artistic or personal development movements. Because its transit through signs lasts much longer than other objects—approximately 14 years in each sign—the impact often unfolds over a longer period.
Since 2012, Neptune in Pisces has coincided with a rise in practices like witchcraft, astrology and manifestation, along with a booming wellness industry. Our culture has seen Dream Pop’s musical revival, a resurgence of psychedelic art, and the rise of augmented and virtual reality, blurring the line between real and surreal—all a part of Pisces’ boundless nature.
Neptune’s conjunction with the North Node will bring the wisdom cultivated over the last 15 years to the forefront—just before the planet moves into Aries later this year. This moment calls for healing, reimagining spirituality in ways that unite rather than divide and grounding otherworldly insights into tangible actions.
When Neptune moves from Pisces into Aries, we shift from imagining possibilities to bringing them into reality. The interconnectedness and empathy we have cultivated during Neptune’s time in Pisces can act as a foundation for the years ahead. It is our chance to move forward with that wisdom while empowering each other to lead with courage and integrity.
With the North Node in Pisces for the next few years, the eclipses will be our cosmic checkpoints that keep us growing in a healthy direction where we are using the wisdom of Pisces as our guide. Pay attention to what lessons, insights and feelings come up for you during the conjunction on Feb. 7 this month. These will likely be the themes that the next series of eclipses will bring up for you.
The key to these transits is not to act, but to listen so we can act with intention after we have gathered insight. Pay attention to what people, ideas, interactions and even hurdles come your way this month, as they will likely continue to follow those themes as we move into eclipse season later this year.
