Mayoral
Dorothy McCabe
McCabe is the incumbent mayor of Waterloo who has served the position since 2022. No other candidates have registered for the Waterloo mayoral race as of this time.
Ward 1 Southwest
Hanmer is the incumbent councillor for Ward 1 Southwest and is running again for re-election. She has a background in healthcare and two prior terms in municipal governance. In past elections she has emphasized traffic safety regulation and housing affordability as central issues to her campaign, though she has yet to release a policy platform for 2026.
No other candidates have registered in Ward 1 Southwest as of this time.
Ward 2 Northwest
Alwahsh is a newcomer to municipal politics with a background working in and founding non-profit organisations. Alwahsh promises to advocate for infrastructure upgrades in Waterloo’s westend, including better winter maintenance in neighbourhoods and an emphasis on pedestrian safety. In her platform, she also emphasizes a need for fiscal responsibility and a focus on equity in the proceedings of council.
With prior municipal engagement in the Waterloo Advisory Committee for Active Transportation, Humes promises to stand for Waterloo’s westend by engaging in community events, advocating for infrastructure upgrades in westend parks and better snowclearing in residential roads. He also promises to fulfil the need for indoor and outdoor recreational facilities in Ward 2 with an emphasis on spaces to play cricket and soccer.
Jiang is a real estate broker in Waterloo and a newcomer to municipal politics running for city councillor of Ward 2 Northwest. She has yet to release a policy platform for 2026.
Ward 3 Lakeshore
Roach is the incumbent councillor for Ward 3 Lakeshore and is running again for reelection. He has also served as a WCDSB trustee in the past. Roach’s priorities include keeping Waterloo affordable, responsible growth, a responsive local service, strong public spaces and safer streets.
Robertson is a newcomer to municipal politics who emphasizes a need to improve the quality of city parks, densify housing and reform the zoning code, as well as improving and diversifying the trails available to Waterloo residents.
Ward 4 Northeast
Freeman is the incumbent councillor for Ward 4 Northeast and is running again for re- election. In her past council terms, she has played a core role in developing the WPL’s Eastside Branch and put a focus on issues regarding active transportation. Freeman has yet to release a policy platform for 2026.
Restoule is a newcomer to municipal politics and a longtime resident of the Eastbridge neighbourhood in Waterloo, now seeking election as the city councillor for Ward 4 Northeast.. He has yet to release a policy platform for 2026.
Ward 5 Southeast
Dede is a newcomer to municipal electoral politics. Her priorities include: refugee and integration leadership, crisis management and outreach, constituency and public service and community advocacy.
Piatkowski is a former WRDSB school board trustee now seeking election as the city councillor for Ward 5 Southeast. He has yet to release a policy platform for 2026.
Rempel is a newcomer to municipal politics and is seeking election as the city councillor for Ward 5 Southeast. He has yet to release a policy platform for 2026.
Richardson is a newcomer to municipal politics with a background in healthcare and the arts. She lists community as a core value of her campaign and promises to advocate for the creation of more third spaces in Ward 5 Southeast.
Ward 6 Central-Columbia
Mikhail is the former Waterloo Undergraduate Student Association president now seeking to become the city councillor for Ward 6 CentralColumbia. He has listed the creation of a renters protection office and a need for walkability in all of Waterloo as ideas which he supports
Roe is the incumbent city councillor for Ward 6 CentralColumbia who has emphasized a need for affordable housing, community-building initiatives and action to combat climate change in her campaign for reelection.
Ward 7 Uptown
Wright is the incumbent city councillor for Ward 7 Uptown. Her priorities include climate change, water management, housing, traffic, garbage, civic life, education, students and retirees, community and fiscal responsibility. No other candidates have registered in Ward 7 Uptown as of this time.
Township of North Dumfries
Mayoral
Rolleman is the current councillor for North Dumfries Ward 1 and is now seeking the mayorship for the 2026-2030 term. No other candidates have registered for the North Dumfries mayoral race as of this time.
Ward 1
Kishan Patel
Patel is a newcomer to municipal politics with a background in Information Technology now seeking election as councillor for North Dumfries Ward 1. He has yet to release a policy platform as of this time.
Ostner is the current councillor for North Dumfries Ward 2 now seeking election as the councillor for North Dumfries Ward 1. He has yet to release a policy platform as of this time.
Ward 2
Aziz is a newcomer to municipal politics seeking election as the councillor for North Dumfries Ward 2. In his policy platform, he lists commitments to developing community spaces, opportunities for youth sports, and listening to residents of Ward 2 for guidance and feedback.
Denise Vanderhorst
Vanderhorst is the daughter of Councillor Sue Foxton, former North Dumfries mayor. She is seeking election as the councillor for North Dumfries Ward 2. She has yet to release a policy platform as of this time.
Wilms is the incumbent councillor for North Dumfries Ward 3 seeking re-election for the 2026-2030 term. She has yet to release a policy platform as of this time.
Ward 4
Tilley is the incumbent councillor for North Dumfries Ward 4 seeking re-election for the 2026-2030 term. He has yet to release a policy platform as of this time.
